Overview

SPP Nagasaki Engineering is one of only a handful of companies worldwide that can perform complete overhaul of landing gears ranging from small aircrafts to large passenger aircrafts.

Utilizing the expertise gained from the complete overhaul of landing gears, we have widened our operations to include repair and maintenance of other aircraft equipment and engine parts, and our track record of orders from overseas airline operators is steadily increasing.

At the same time, to aid in achieving global competitiveness, we have developed and implemented a consolidated management system for all components and work processes, and now have a firm grasp of our work progress in real time.

Our landing gear overhaul provides high quality results by employing diverse technologies throughout the entire process, from pre-disassembly overall appearance inspection, visual inspection and NDI of each component, repairs such as machining or shot peening, all the way to painting and final assembly.

Main facilities

  • Shot Peening Process : Full Automated Robotic Machine (introduced in 2014)
    Outside 2.2 x 7.0 x 2.4H m , Inside 2.2 x 1.5 x 5.7H m
  • Typical Baking Furnace : 1.7 x 1.3 x 3.3 m 300℃
  • Painting Booth : 3.9 x 5.9 x4 m

In repairing landing gear components, very tight tolerance is required by regulation and all work is performed to the specifications in the work manuals. Machining is also performed on components for removing defects such as corrosion and to machine or grind surface areas where required.

Main facilities

  • CNC Horizontal Boring Mill : 6.0 x 6.3 x 4.1m
  • Grinding Machine : Dia. 0.4 m x L 3.0 m Max. 650kg
  • CNC Grinding Machine : 0.65 x L 2.4 m Max 500kg (introduced in 2014)

In order to withstand the severe conditions at 10,000 meter altitude and the impact and loads during takeoff and landing, the landing gear is required to have different surface treatments according to the requirements, such as chrome plating and titanium cadmium plating. We have a large on-site plating facility and can perform surface treatments for any flight equipment including engine parts.

The process fluids are tested and analyzed regularly and strict quality control is enforced so that we can consistently provide high quality surface treatment work.
